March 14, 2011
TDK Corporation
The following is the report on the impact caused by the off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake on Friday, March 11, 2011 as well as by the rolling blackout.

<Damages by the earthquake>
There were damages caused by the earthquake at a site in Iwate area and a site in Ibaraki area.
There were some damages to the plant building at the Iwate site and to the equipment at the Ibaraki site. It is currently under investigation how long it will take to recover from the damages for those two sites.
For other sites, there were no damages caused directly by the earthquake.

<Impact of the planned rolling blackout>
There are 5 manufacturing sites in Kanto District, which Tokyo Electric Power Company supplies with the electricity. The locations of those 5 sites are one in Narita area, two in Kofu area, one in Ibaraki area and one in Ichikawa area.
Tokyo Electric Power Company has made a plan to implement the rolling blackout, as its power supply capacities are limited due to the earthquake.
The impact of the rolling blackout to those sites is investigated at this moment.

There are 19 manufacturing sites in Tohoku district, which Tohoku Electric Power Company supplies with the electricity. There are 15 sites in Akita area, 3 in Yamagata area and one in Iwate area. Tohoku Electric Power Company investigates the necessity for the rolling blackout in its district.
Thus, there is a likelihood that there may be some impacts on the above sites in case Tohoku Electric Power Company implements the rolling blackout. Those impacts are investigated at this moment by the simulation case studies.

The further information will be reported on this website.
